Psalm 26:1
“Vindicate me, O Lord, for I have walked in my integrity.
I have also trusted in the Lord; I shall not slip.”
(NKJV)

Think carefully about this timely principle for just a moment:  “Character is the sail that governs the direction of your life’s course.” Keeping that in mind, consider if you will the great English revivalist, George Whitefield.  So fiery and convicting were his sermons that both the American and English clergy refused to allow him inside their pulpits.  Did Whitefield withdraw his sail, become embittered at his brothers, slander them and decide to resign?  No, and because he demonstrated good character, God gave George Whitefield a better idea—preach outdoors!  And it was all in God’s plan since by utilizing vast, open fields, multitudes of various sects and denominations could freely attend his meetings, many of whom otherwise would have never entered any house of worship whatsoever.

Regardless of the winds of adversity and compromise, if your sail is aimed in the direction of God’s Word you will always remain in line with His will.

By embracing the standards outlined in the Word of God, your sail will never drift; no, it is firmly set to override any adverse current that floats along.  And by doing as Daniel and revivalist Whitefield, being solidly resolute causes you to purpose in your heart never to deviate from God’s path.  Do you truly believe character is important?  If so, make the choice today to set your sail with God’s Word.  Embrace His principles and set your course towards Heaven.

Colossians 2:15 - Jesus spoiled principalities and powers

I Timothy 6:12 - We are to fight the good fight of faith

I Timothy 1:18(b) - War a good warfare

What does God say about our warfare?

II Corinthians 10:3-6 - The weapons of our warfare are not carnal; spiritual warfare is primarily a matter of the mind

Know your weapons  - A weapon is a means of attack or defense

Offensive weapons - the Word, the Name, the Blood of Jesus

Defensive weapons - Ephesians 6:14-17

Principle keys to know when using your spiritual weapons in prayer

Know who you are in Christ; have revelation of your spiritual position in Christ - Luke 10:19; Ephesians 1 & 2; I John 4:4

Recognize who your real enemy is (satan) and his position (defeated foe) - Colossians 2:15; Ephesians 1:22

Know the power in praise and worship - Ps 22:3, Ps 9, Ps . Ps 150:2 , study worship

Know your God-given authority to bind and loose -  Matthew 16:19, Matthew 18:18

Know the power in the Blood (Revelation 12:11);  the Name of Jesus (Acts 3:16, Philippians 2:9-11) and the Word of God (Hebrews 4:12)
